LiquiGlide’s surfaces create a world of potential across industries.
LiquiGlide’s surfaces can prevent the buildup of snow and ice on utilities lines that causes millions to lose power every year.
Preventing ice build-up is critical in the aerospace industry, where even less than a 1/4 inch of ice will disrupt the airflow and make it difficult to create lift during take-off. Currently, airports combat this build-up by applying heated, deicing fluid just before take-off. Although, it removes any ice and snow that may have built up on the wings, it does not prevent further build-up. LiquiGlide’s coatings could prevent ice build-up and obviate the need for conventional de-icing.
LiquiGlide improves shedding on condensers by creating ultra-smooth surfaces and reducing the number of nucleation sites – fewer nucleation sites means faster shedding. In power plants, LiquiGlide’s technology can be applied to condensers to improve the efficiency of cooling. In water treatment plants, this increased speed would enable significant efficiency gains in the water desalination process.
